Policies and Procedures

Our aim is to provide a high standard of care and education for your child. To ensure this we have detailed policies in place which parents are welcome to read at any time.

You can see a brief outline of some of our policies below:

Behaviour Policy

By acting as good role models we will promote and praise good behaviour and try to explain to children depending on their understanding the difference between right and wrong. If your child's behaviour is giving us concern we will arrange a meeting with you to discuss and agree a plan to help support your child.

We will never use or threaten to use any form of physical punishment in our nursery.

Equal Opportunities

We welcome children and families from all social, cultural and religious backgrounds and we believe children have a right to grow and learn in an environment free from prejudice and without discrimination.

We recognise that all children in our nursery should be listened to, respected, valued and have equal access to all activities.

Children attending the nursery will be made aware of different cultures, disabilities of others and be encouraged to respect one another.

Child Protection

Smart Start believes that it is unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind and recognise's it's responsibility to safeguard the welfare of the children in our care.

Our staff will receive training on Child Protection issues and procedures so that if they have concerns the appropriate action can be taken.

We understand the importance of working in partnership with parents/carers and after consultation with our designated child protection officer, we will share with you issues or concerns we may have relating to your child providing we feel this does not put them at greater risk.

Additional Needs

The nursery is committed to the integration of children with additional needs. We have appointed a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) who will seek advice and expertise from outside agencies to help us identify and provide the relevant support.

Complaints Procedure

We hope you will be happy with all aspects of the nursery, however on occasions misunderstandings or problems may arise which we believe should be sorted out immediately. We hope that most disputes will be resolved early and amicably by direct discussion with the relevant parties. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome please talk to the nursery manager who will investigate the matter and record the complaint. We hope we can resolve the matter internally but if you are still not satisfied OFSTED can be contacted direct.
