SEND Local Offer

Local Offer Overview

At Smart Start we take pride in the relationships that we build with you, your family and your children. With this relationship, we can jointly identify individual needs and support that may be required and work together to implement them through parent partnership both at nursery and at home. We use regular observation and assessment to monitor your child’s progress, putting additional plans in place to meet the individual needs of your children, for them to be able to reach their full potential. We have an experienced lead Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) who will work closely with you, your child and your keyperson. We have an additional 4 trained SENCO practitioners to support children at our nursery. Following the SEND code of practice (2015) and using the Best Practice Guidance document to review and adapt our practice considering the Graduated Approach, to ensure you as a family and your child are supported as appropriate within the four broad areas of need:

  • Communication and Language
  • Cognition and Learning
  • Social Emotional and Mental Health
  • Physical / Sensory Difficulties.

We continuously work closely with you and other professionals, sharing information, listening to advice and working together for the best outcomes for your child.
